Why Volunteer?
Volunteering
your time is an extremely powerful gift to the troops without costing you a dime, and we always need people like you to volunteer. So, come share your desire to support the troops with us. We don't bite... much.
What will I have to do?
You don't have to do anything, but most of the people who volunteer with Special Kindness In Packages become very passionate about its mission and enjoy handing out fliers, selling bears, and telling people about the organization during special events. They also enjoy being a part of the care package "packing nights" where we pack the next shipment of care packages being sent to the troops. Some people prefer one over the other, and that's okay too. Anyone willing to lend a hand is always welcome.
Do I have to be at everything if I sign up?
No. Before each special event we will ask volunteers if they would like to help at the event. Packing nights are always open to the public. Nobody is required to be at everything; however, if you decide to accept our invitation to help at a special event we would appreciate your attendance.
How do I sign up?
You can join the Special Kindness In Packages Volunteer Force simply by filling out the brief form below. If you ever have any questions please Email Skip at skip@specialkindness.org
Help Pack Care Packages
All care packages are currently being shipped from our Massachusetts location and we are always looking for volunteers to help prepare shipments of the monthly care packages we send to the troops.
Fundraisers, Community Awareness, and More
Special Events are fun to be a part of! In the past we've designed floats for parades, held fundraisers, and helped clean-up community parks. The opportunities are numerous and volunteers are always needed!

President’s Volunteer Service Award

We are pleased to announce our participation in the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a Certifying Organization.
This new Award is a Presidential honor that recognizes the valuable contributions of volunteers nationwide who are answering President George W. Bush’s call to serve others through their current volunteer activities or lifetime service. We encourage you to create an account listing us as your certifying organization. As a Certifying Organization, we will identify eligible recipients, verify their service hours, and distribute the Award to outstanding volunteers.
Today, we invite you to create your account and apply for this Award. If you meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the table below please make sure you apply now! For more information on how to create an account please visit www.presidentialserviceawards.gov.
Given your ongoing service activities, you may already meet the requirements to receive the Award. To qualify, simply submit a record of your service hours onto your account, and we verify the service and distribute the Award.
You will need to enter a ROS (Record of Service) Key when setting up your account. Please send Skip an Email with "ROS Key" in the subject line.
If you haven’t accumulated enough hours of service to be eligible for the Award, I encourage you to sign up for additional volunteer projects available through our organization as they come up. We have several ongoing projects as well as one-time community projects planned throughout the year. You can participate in these service projects by yourself, with family members, neighbors, or colleagues from work.
Additionally, eligible volunteer service hours are not limited to those performed specifically on behalf of Special Kindness In Packages. In fact, service hours can be accumulated through work on a variety of projects throughout the year. The only requirement is that the hours be completed within 12 months; recipients can qualify for a new Award each year.
To be eligible to receive the President’s Volunteer Service Award,
Applicants’ service hours must be confirmed by a registered Certifying Organization.
